Arrival

Our hotel is smack dab in the middle of old Madrid, near the Puerto de Sol town square. Here are a couple views from our balcony, which sits over one of the pedestrian streats -- the building across the street and a view down the road toward the Puerto del Sol.

I told Michelle we're gonna have to do the wild thing on the balcony at least once while we're here. I explained that all the Spaniards do it. She ain't buying it.

You are an amazing human being.

Seven hours of tortuous flight with God knows how many screaming babies.

In a stupified state from your dear friend Xanax.

Hearing tanned faces speak and not having any clue what they are saying. You, in turn, speaking, but discovering no one cares what you are trying to convey. (you've experienced this before, though, haven't you?)

Strange signs on the streets of old Madrid where people evidently turn to a full-bodied bronzed state without Viagra.

Bulls running rampant everywhere. You, in your bright red thong, like a Spanish Borat at an American Rodeo.

And yet, despite all these mind-blowing challenges, there you are, Stephen Quixote de la Mancha, posting a blog at 3am Madrid time dreaming about hooking up with your amazingly saintly spouse on an ancient Spanish balcony unfit for such a public demonstration.

Ever focused on the grand prize, like your father Don Quixote, you let nothing stand in your way.
Good luck as you attempt to live out your dreams in a foreign land.

Whoa! You should have warned us your blog is rated PG13! Drugs...sexual references...oh my!

Sounds like you are having fun. Only you and Michelle would meet an Irish-Spainard and then get intived to lunch. Take care.

what a great hotel right in el puerto!!! i used to go to that corte ingles allll the time - you can get everything there you know: food, clothes, office supplies; I never found the black market human organ department, but there is rumored to be one. Looks like you guys are having a great time - and I've totally been to that guitar cave bar, and one of those tapas places! Excellent work on finding your way around that city. Will keep myself posted...
